Holding Garrett for the first time

Last Tuesday I got to hold Garrett up for the nurse while she changed his bedding. He settled right into my hands and got comfy so I got to hold him for a little bit. It was great, but not as good as when I got to really hold him the next day! Wednesday I was able to hold him for an entire hour! They call it kangaroo care and they have the mom hold the baby skin to skin just like they would have when he was born if he would have been full term. It was so nice to have that bonding time with my little guy. He is so sweet and calm, we both just relaxed and held each other close!

They also took out his pick line last week, so he doesn't have any IV's at all. They moved his feeding tube into his nose with his oxygen, so that is the only place we are hooked up. I love that we get to see his cute little face so well already! (with just a little tape distortion)

Last night his weight was up again so he now weighs 3 lbs 5 ozs. They are fortifying his feedings with a pretty high calorie of fat, so he should start to gain rapidly and get some chub soon!

OMG Nic! I haven't been in the blog loop lately, and just found all of this. I am glad he is doing so well. What is with you and having your babies so early. You are one strong girl. I can't wait to picks of him growing up.

BTW - Taya is getting so big. I can't believe how old she is. CRAZY!!!!

We need to get together sometime with Amie when you guys are home and doing better.
